All of the decorating has been completed. The big tree is 10′ tall and yes, it does appear to be leaning to the left at the top. It’s an artificial tree and the top part is inserted into a pole. It sits kind of loose and so it leans. I don’t recall this happening before. Sigh.
If you recall my Drama post a while ago you will notice the mantle is still lacking said drama. Apparently, my drama was lost in the mail or something. Perhaps I will have it before the year’s end? I have no idea. Sigh, I want my drama!
Anyhow, I try to carry on. I decorated two other mantles in the house…
This house has five fireplaces and none of them work, as far as I know. Not a single one has a damper so there is insulation stuffed up the flue to prevent heat escaping and one of the chimney’s has a small tree growing out of the mortar. I suppose I should get up there and remove it at some point. It was never said they didn’t work, but I wouldn’t trust them. It’s sad really because I do so love a working fireplace.
The sitting room is where you… sit. Ha! It’s also where the television is so I placed a small tree in this room so you may enjoy the lights while watching television.
Outside the house I decorate too, but not too much. At least I don’t think I do. I mean, I’m not like that person on Main Street with a dozen inflatable ornament displays, each over 5 feet tall! I was hoping to get more garland for all of the columns on the porch, but I decided not to spend the money. Then again, I may snap at the last-minute. It’s been known to happen.
The Leyland Cypress I planted a couple of years ago has grown quite a bit. I needed more lights so I decided to buy new LED lights. They are quite vibrant and they use far less energy, which is great.
I picked up a pair of frivolous holiday spectacles. They are neat in that they change the holiday lights to stars. I held them up to my iPhone’s camera for you to experience.
I have a three-day weekend coming up so I will have a fair amount of time to get this house cleaned up before my mother arrives on the 2o December. Today I switched to what we call at ECU, “intercession” hours, which is to say classes have ended and we are open 8 – 5 PM.
Waking up at 5:30 AM is rubbish. My normal hours are 1- 10 pm and I do so prefer those hours. I’m still not awake. Sigh.
