Tedious Break

I start my journey back to North Carolina tomorrow. It has been a tedious break being in Southwest Florida. I was tending to chores for my mother and going through more of my brothers belongings.

There is so much stuff in this house! One day it’s going to be my responsibility to deal with all and the prospect doesn’t make me happy. My mother and her neighbors are planning garage sales. I am hoping she will truly get rid of stuff. She says she intends to, but she seems to become overwhelmed and shuts down too quickly and too often these days. Sigh.

I did spend some time by myself. The weather was nice so I was able to drive around with the top down and visit my favourite spots downtown.

I was bad. I had coffee at a café and people watch for about an hour one day. I’m not supposed to drink coffee anymore, but I figure once in a while is okay. I swear if it weren’t for the palm trees I could have been in New York, New Jersey or Massachusetts. The accents! Ha!

There is so much that needs to be done here at my mother’s home, but never enough time to do it. I suppose I need to accept only so much may be done each visit and that I will need to visit more often. I am not sure how I can do this due to the available time off each year. Time will tell.

I will leave for Savannah tomorrow and stay with my friend, Betsy on Whitemarsh Island. I hope to get to visit with as many as I can, but I am limited to time. I have to be back to work on Sunday. Sigh.
