Happy May Day! The landscapers showed up this past Tuesday and set to work immediately. It’s very exciting! The weather held up long enough for them to remove most of the sod, grade and level the ground. Even the “Bog of Despair” has been dealt with. Though I know it lurks beneath the freshly added dirt so I wouldn’t event attempt to walk on it at this point because now it is raining and it is one big mud pit!

They had to excavate the front walk deeper than expected due to the ground being soggy. At one time a large tree existed out front, but was taken down sometime after Hurricane Floyd. Its roots are still present decaying under ground and they are like a sponge creating concentrated areas of squishy ground. So this means having to add more stone to the walk to build up the level and make it stable, but until the rain ends and things dry out a bit it remains unfinished. Sigh.
I took a series of videos with my iPhone and pieced them together into one for you to enjoy…
