A New Year

I’ve gone mad.

I have taken quite a bit of time off from this blog, but now it is time to return to the banter.

This holiday has been stressful and in fact has been downright horrid. I have never been one for a family gathering. There is mental illness in the family and it weighs heavy and I avoid it at all costs, but this year things changed. Anyhow, I do not intend on writing about it except for the fact that I am glad it is coming to an end and I return to work on Monday.

Actually it is quite amazing to say that I am looking forward to going back to work… I think this must be a first! The sad thing about this holiday is that I had so much time off from work, but because of the situation I could not take advantage of my time off to complete the projects at hand. To say I am bitter… is an understatement, but I must keep it in check.

Okay, a new year. It’s going to be a busy one. There is much to do in the development of the garden. As of now the potager looks ghastly. The warm weather we have been having has promoted weeds to grow with a vengeance. We have been receiving so much rain that the potager has turned in to a mud pit so I cannot get out there and weed. Disappointingly the ground water problems have returned and it will need to be addressed.

At some point I will be painting the bathroom and adding some new rugs and a piece of furniture to expand storage. I will continue to sort and organize belongings and part with much of it. There are window screens to be made for the casement windows and for a window upstairs, drapery to be sewn, chandeliers to be rewired and relocated, a cottage and greenhouse to be renovated, a picket fence and arbor to be installed.

Have I left anything out? I am sure I did.

I hope everyone had a lovely start to the new year!
